What it costs

  • 7 of the 11 programs here publish an all-in monthly price for a GLP-1 pill: $99 to $302 a month, with a median of $239. That includes the medication and any membership the program requires.
  • One of these prices needs a prepaid or fixed plan of 3 months or more; each says so beside the price.
  • 3 programs don’t publish a price for it before you sign up.
  • A sale counts at its regular price, with the sale price shown beside it.

How GLP-1 weight loss medications work

GLP-1 medications copy a hormone your gut releases after you eat. They signal fullness to your brain and slow how quickly food leaves your stomach, so most people feel satisfied with less food and think about food less often. Many describe the quieter “food noise” as the biggest surprise.

Most are a once-weekly injection you give yourself at home with a short, thin needle. Two are now daily pills. Doses start low and step up every four weeks or so, which keeps the most common side effects, mainly nausea and other stomach upset, more manageable.

Which medication is which

Several of these are the same molecule sold under different names for different conditions.

Brand-name or compounded?

Brand-name GLP-1s such as Wegovy and Zepbound are FDA-approved and made by their manufacturers. Compounded versions are prepared by state-licensed pharmacies for an individual prescription. They usually cost less, but they are not FDA-approved and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality. Our compounded GLP-1 guide covers what changed in 2025 and how to choose a program carefully.

What to look for in a provider

  • The price at your maintenance dose, not just month one. Programs that charge the same at every dose are easier to budget for.
  • A real clinical review. A licensed clinician should review your history and adjust your dose when side effects hit or progress stalls.
  • A licensed US pharmacy, and a clear statement of whether your medication is compounded or FDA-approved.
  • Terms you can live with. Check for prepaid terms, cancellation windows and what happens if you are not prescribed.

Not sure which program fits?

Answer five quick questions about budget, medication and insurance, and we’ll rank the programs for you. No email or sign-up needed.

Questions, answered

Is there a GLP-1 pill for weight loss?

Yes. The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) and Foundayo (orforglipron) are FDA-approved daily pills for chronic weight management. Some programs also offer compounded oral tablets, which are not FDA-approved.

Do GLP-1 pills work as well as injections?

The approved pills produce meaningful weight loss in trials, though results differ by medication and dose. Your clinician can help you weigh convenience against expected results. See our medication guides.

How much does the Wegovy pill cost?

Self-pay at NovoCare Pharmacy, the Wegovy pill costs $149 to $299 a month by dose, a price NovoCare labels a limited-time offer. Programs that bill a membership add it on top.

How much does Foundayo cost?

Self-pay at LillyDirect, Foundayo (orforglipron) costs $149 to $299 a month by dose, and some of those prices are reduced through Dec 31, 2026. See Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill.

How do you take the Wegovy pill?

Once a day, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, with no more than 4 ounces of plain water. Wait at least 30 minutes before you eat, drink anything else or take other oral medicines, or less of the drug is absorbed.

Are compounded GLP-1 tablets FDA-approved?

No. Compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide tablets and drops are prepared by a pharmacy for your prescription and aren’t FDA-approved; little is known about how well they are absorbed. Where programs publish a price, they cost $99 to $302.25 a month.
