FDA-approved products, including generics, are made by their manufacturers to an approved standard. Compounded products are prepared by state-licensed pharmacies for an individual prescription, often to combine ingredients or change the form. They are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality.

Generic sildenafil costs not published where it is priced per dose or per pack, and $25 a month as a monthly plan with any required membership, using each provider’s lowest regular price (sale prices don’t count). Prices usually rise with strength, so check the price for the dose you are prescribed.

Is generic sildenafil as good as Viagra?
FDA-approved generic sildenafil contains sildenafil citrate, the active ingredient in Viagra, and the FDA requires a generic to deliver the same amount of drug to the body as the brand. It is approved for the same use. Compounded sildenafil chewables are different: they are not FDA-approved.

What dose of sildenafil should I take?
Most men start at 50 mg about an hour before sex, and a clinician may move you to 25 mg or 100 mg depending on how it works and your side effects. Take it no more than once a day. See sildenafil.

How long does sildenafil last?
