In short
- The Wegovy pill is a prescription medicine, approved on December 22, 2025, for long-term weight reduction in adults and to lower cardiovascular risk in adults with heart disease and obesity or overweight.
- As of October 2026, NovoCare Pharmacy sells it self-pay at $149 a month for 1.5 mg, $199 for 4 mg and $299 for 9 mg and 25 mg.
- 10 of the 39 online programs we rank prescribe it; their fees on top of the medication run from $49 (Measured) to $150 (Vineyard) a month.
- At the 25 mg maintenance dose, the all-in monthly cost runs from $348 to $449 at the programs that publish both prices.
- You take it each morning on an empty stomach with up to 4 oz of water, then wait at least 30 minutes before food, drink or other oral medicines.
To get the Wegovy pill online, you need a prescription from a licensed clinician, through a telehealth program or your own doctor, and then a pharmacy to fill it. Self-pay at NovoCare Pharmacy, it costs $149 to $299 a month by dose as of October 2026. Online programs usually add a monthly fee on top, so the program you choose sets most of the difference in price.
Here’s how it works, step by step.
Step 1: Check that the pill fits you
The Wegovy pill is oral semaglutide, the same molecule as the Wegovy injection, taken once a day. The FDA approved it on December 22, 2025, as the first GLP-1 pill for weight loss. It shares the Wegovy label and is approved for adults:
- With diet and activity, to reduce excess body weight and keep it off, if you have obesity, or overweight with at least one weight-related condition.
- To lower the risk of major cardiovascular events if you have established heart disease and obesity or overweight.
The label sets no numeric BMI cutoff. OASIS 4, the trial behind the approval, enrolled people with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 to 29.9 with at least one weight-related condition. Check yours with our BMI calculator.
Like every GLP-1, it carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors and isn’t for anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2. Tell the clinician about all your medicines, because the pill’s empty-stomach rule affects how you take other oral drugs.
Step 2: Decide how you’ll pay
Commercial insurance. With a plan that covers the pill, a NovoCare savings offer can bring it to as little as $25 a month. Savings top out at $100 a month, so a high copay can leave you paying more, and people with government insurance can’t use it. Plans often need a prior authorization.
Medicare. Through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, eligible Part D enrollees pay $50 a month from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027. The CMS form lists Wegovy tablets.
Self-pay. NovoCare lists these prices, labeled a limited-time offer with no end date. One month is a bottle of 30 tablets.
| Dose | When the label uses it | NovoCare price per month |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5 mg | Days 1 to 30 | $149 |
| 4 mg | Days 31 to 60 | $199 |
| 9 mg | Days 61 to 90 | $299 |
| 25 mg | Day 91 on (maintenance) | $299 |
TrumpRx.gov listed the pill at $149 a month on October 17, 2026, without naming a dose. Our Wegovy pill cost guide has a first-year total of $3,338 for the medication.
Step 3: Choose who prescribes it
These online programs prescribe the Wegovy pill. The medication prices and fees below were on each program’s site on October 18, 2026.

| Program | Wegovy pill price it lists | Fee on top | At 25 mg, all in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Measured | $149 to $299 | From $49 a month | $348 |
| WeightWatchers | $149 at the starting dose, up to $299, via CenterWell Pharmacy | $84 a month on a 6-month plan, $74 on 12 months, after a $25 first month | $383 |
| Sesame | $149 at 1.5 mg and 4 mg, $299 at 9 mg and 25 mg | $99 a month, or $59 on the annual plan | $398 |
| Vineyard | $149 to $299, billed by your pharmacy | $150 a month | $449 |
| Hims | From $149, plus a microdosing plan from $149 | $149 a month after a $39 first month | Higher doses not shown |
| Noom | Listed without a price | $129 a month after $39 to start | Not published |
| FuturHealth | Intro month as low as $198 | Not published | Later months not published |
Prepaid plans cut the fee: at 25 mg, WeightWatchers’ 12-month plan makes it $373 a month, and Sesame’s annual plan $358. First-month deals ($25 at WeightWatchers, $39 at Hims) last one month.
How the care works differs too. Sesame lets you pick your provider and meet by video, with Quest labs in most states. Measured works by questionnaire and messaging, with no video visits, and serves 26 states. Ro and Vineyard have insurance concierges that file prior authorizations, and WeightWatchers pairs a board-certified clinician with its app. Our GLP-1 pill rankings order the programs by our scores.
You can also ask your own doctor for a prescription and fill it at NovoCare, which avoids a program fee.
Step 4: Complete the intake
Expect an online questionnaire on your weight, conditions, medicines and goals. Some programs add a video visit (Sesame) or labs when a provider asks for them (Ro, Sesame). Measured reviews your answers without a call.
Before you pay, read the refund and commitment terms. Sesame refunds in full if you cancel at least 3 hours before your first visit. WeightWatchers’ Med+ runs on 6- or 12-month plans that renew for the same term, and Measured gives no refunds once a billing period has started.
Step 5: Fill the prescription
With insurance, the prescription goes to a pharmacy and the savings offer applies there. For self-pay, programs send it to a pharmacy they work with (WeightWatchers names CenterWell), or you can fill it through NovoCare or TrumpRx.gov. Confirm the price before each refill, since NovoCare’s prices are labeled a limited-time offer.
Step 6: Take it the right way
The routine is what makes the pill work. On the label, you take it once a day in the morning on an empty stomach with up to 4 oz of plain water, then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines. You start at 1.5 mg for 30 days, move to 4 mg, then 9 mg, and reach the 25 mg maintenance dose from day 91.
In OASIS 4, adults without diabetes on the 25 mg pill lost 13.6% of their body weight on average over 64 weeks, against 2.4% on placebo. The label says common side effects were similar to the injection’s, mostly stomach-related, and 6.9% stopped the pill because of side effects, against 5.9% on placebo. If you can’t tolerate 25 mg, the label suggests switching to the weekly injection at 1.7 mg. Our side effects guide covers what helps.
Other pills to know about
Foundayo (orforglipron) is Lilly’s daily GLP-1 pill, with no food or water timing rules. LillyDirect lists it at $149 to $299 a month by dose. See Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill.
Compounded tablets are sold at one monthly price by several programs, such as Strut Health’s semaglutide lozenge from $99 a month on auto-refill, Vital Step’s dissolving tablet at $219 for a month (renewing every 28 days, about $237.25 a calendar month), and Willow’s tablets at $299. A compounded semaglutide tablet is not the Wegovy pill and not a generic of it. A compounding pharmacy prepares it, it isn’t FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality (FDA).
Rybelsus is oral semaglutide for type 2 diabetes, in 3, 7 and 14 mg tablets. It has no weight-management indication, so don’t swap it for the Wegovy pill without a clinician.
The bottom line
Getting the Wegovy pill online takes a prescription and a way to pay. Check your insurance or Medicare first, since $25 or $50 a month beats the cash price. Self-pay, the pill costs $149 to $299 a month at NovoCare as of October 2026, and the online programs we track add $49 to $150 a month, so 25 mg costs $348 to $449 all in where both prices are published. Then take it every morning on an empty stomach, and step up the dose with your clinician. For the injection’s prices, see Wegovy cost in 2026, or start from our weight-loss hub.
