In short

  1. NovoCare Pharmacy lists the Wegovy pill at $149 a month for 1.5 mg, $199 for 4 mg and $299 for both 9 mg and 25 mg, as of October 17, 2026.
  2. Those prices are labeled a limited-time offer with no end date, and one month is a bottle of 30 tablets.
  3. On the label’s dose schedule, a first year at these prices comes to $3,338 for the medication alone.
  4. With commercial coverage, a savings offer can cut the cost to as little as $25 a month; eligible Medicare Part D enrollees pay $50 through the GLP-1 Bridge.

Without insurance, the Wegovy pill costs $149 to $299 a month at NovoCare Pharmacy, based on prices read on October 17, 2026. The 1.5 mg starting dose is $149, 4 mg is $199, and both 9 mg and the 25 mg maintenance dose are $299.

Because the label moves you to 25 mg from day 91, you’d pay $299 a month from your fourth month on at current prices. Below are the prices by dose, a first-year total and how insurance or Medicare changes the math.

Wegovy pill prices by dose

DoseWhen the label uses itNovoCare price per month
1.5 mgDays 1 to 30$149
4 mgDays 31 to 60$199
9 mgDays 61 to 90$299
25 mgDay 91 on (maintenance)$299

One month is a bottle of 30 tablets. NovoCare labels these prices a “limited time offer” and shows no end date, so confirm the price before each refill. The $149 starting price matches what Novo Nordisk announced at approval on December 22, 2025, when it called the pill the first oral GLP-1 for weight loss.

The pill shares an FDA label with the Wegovy injection. You take it once a day in the morning on an empty stomach with up to 4 oz of water, then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other oral medicines. Our Wegovy pill page covers the drug itself.

What a first year costs

MonthDosePrice
11.5 mg$149
24 mg$199
39 mg$299
4 to 1225 mg$299 a month, $2,691 in all
Year total$3,338

That total is medication only, at today’s prices, on the label’s standard schedule. If your clinician changes the schedule, or Novo changes its prices, the total changes too.

If you get the prescription through an online program, add its fees. Vineyard, for example, charges a $150 monthly membership, and you pay for the medication separately at the pharmacy. At the 25 mg dose that comes to $449 a month all in, or $5,138 for a first year at the prices above.

Where to buy it

You need a prescription from a licensed clinician first. After that, there are three main routes.

  • NovoCare Pharmacy sells the pill at the self-pay prices above.
  • TrumpRx.gov, which launched February 5, 2026, listed the Wegovy pill at $149 a month on October 17, 2026, without naming a dose. The White House said at launch the pill would drop from $1,349 to “as low as $149.”
  • Online programs can write the prescription. Vineyard’s FAQ, updated June 2026, puts cash-pay pharmacy prices for the tablet at $149 to $299 a month. Our oral GLP-1 rankings compare programs that prescribe pills.

Who the pill is approved for

The Wegovy pill is for adults only. It’s approved, with diet and activity, to reduce excess body weight and keep it off long term if you have obesity, or overweight plus at least one weight-related condition. It’s also approved to lower the risk of major cardiovascular events in adults with established heart disease and obesity or overweight.

The label sets no numeric BMI cutoff, but OASIS 4, the trial behind the approval, enrolled people with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 to 29.9 with at least one weight-related condition. Check your number with our BMI calculator, and let a clinician decide whether the pill fits you.

Paying with insurance or Medicare

With commercial insurance that covers the Wegovy pill, NovoCare says a savings offer can bring the cost to as little as $25 a month. Savings top out at $100 a month, so a high copay may leave you paying more than $25. The offer excludes people with government insurance.

Medicare works differently. Through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge, eligible Part D enrollees pay $50 a month for weight-loss GLP-1s from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027, and the CMS prior-authorization form lists Wegovy tablets as covered. The $50 doesn’t count toward the Part D out-of-pocket maximum, and low-income subsidies don’t apply to it.

Our Medicare guide explains who qualifies, and our insurance rankings cover programs for people with coverage.

List price vs what you pay

The Wegovy pill’s list price, the price before rebates, is $1,349 a month, according to the White House in February 2026. Novo Nordisk plans to cut that list price to $675 on January 1, 2027, for the 25 mg tablet and the 2.4 mg injection.

Novo says the cut does not affect self-pay prices. If you pay cash at NovoCare, the $149 to $299 prices above are the ones to watch.

MedicationFormStarting doseFull dose
Wegovy pillDaily tablet$149 (1.5 mg)$299 (25 mg)
Wegovy injectionWeekly injection$199 (first two fills, new patients)$349 (2.4 mg)
FoundayoDaily tablet$149 (0.8 mg)$299 (9 to 17.2 mg)
ZepboundWeekly injection$299 (2.5 mg)$449 (7.5 to 15 mg, on-time refills)

The $199 injection offer runs through December 31, 2026. Foundayo prices are from LillyDirect; its 14.5 mg and 17.2 mg price needs a refill within 45 days, and its 2.5 mg and 5.5 mg prices are temporarily reduced through December 31, 2026. Zepbound’s $449 also needs a refill within 45 days (LillyDirect). For the two pills side by side, read Foundayo vs the Wegovy pill.

Does the pill work as well as the shot?

In OASIS 4, 307 adults without diabetes on the 25 mg pill lost 13.6% of their body weight on average over 64 weeks, against 2.4% on placebo. Novo also reported 16.6% against 2.7% among people who stayed on treatment.

The injection’s main trial, STEP 1, found 14.9% at 2.4 mg over 68 weeks. That was a separate trial, so the two numbers aren’t a direct comparison. The label says the pill’s common side effects were similar to the injection’s, and 6.9% stopped the pill because of side effects, against 5.9% on placebo. Like the injection, the pill carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors and isn’t for anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2.

The bigger daily difference is routine: the pill is an every-morning, empty-stomach habit, and the injection is once a week. If you can’t tolerate 25 mg, the label suggests switching to the 1.7 mg weekly injection.

Compounded semaglutide tablets

Some online programs sell compounded semaglutide tablets at a flat price. WellPeps, for example, lists an oral semaglutide tablet starting at $229 a month, not available in California. Compounded semaglutide is not the Wegovy pill and not a generic of it. A compounding pharmacy prepares it, and it is not FDA-approved or reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality.

The FDA has also been tightening up on how these drugs are sold. In March 2026 it warned 30 telehealth companies over claims implying their compounded drugs were the same as FDA-approved ones. Our compounded semaglutide rankings compare those programs if you’re weighing that route.

The bottom line

Without insurance, the Wegovy pill costs $149 to $299 a month at NovoCare, and $299 at the 25 mg maintenance dose. A first year on the standard schedule comes to $3,338 for the medication alone, plus any program fees.

Commercial coverage can bring it down to $25 a month, and eligible Medicare Part D enrollees pay $50 through the Bridge. The cash prices are a limited-time offer, so check them before each refill, and ask a licensed clinician whether the pill or the weekly injection suits you better.

At full dose, yes. The 25 mg pill is $299 a month and the standard injection price is $349. New injection patients can get their first two fills at 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg for $199 through December 31, 2026.

Is Rybelsus the same as the Wegovy pill?

Both are oral semaglutide, but Rybelsus is approved for type 2 diabetes and has no weight-management indication. It comes in 3, 7 and 14 mg tablets, while the Wegovy pill comes in 1.5, 4, 9 and 25 mg. Don’t swap one for the other without a licensed clinician.
