In short
- BlueChew is run by Dermacare LLC of Chicago. Five provider-owned medical groups prescribe, three named pharmacies compound and ship the tablets, and it serves every state except North Dakota.
- Everything BlueChew sells is compounded: a pharmacy prepares it, and it isn’t FDA-approved. On Sept 9, 2025 the FDA sent BlueChew a warning letter calling four of its marketing claims false or misleading.
- As of October 2026, plans start at $20 a month; per tablet, SIL starts at $3.53, VAR at $4.34 and TAD at $4.47. The four-drug GOLD tablet started at $7.30 on Oct 27, 2026.
- On Oct 27, 2026, Trustpilot showed a TrustScore of 4.1 from 3,264 reviews (66% five-star, 17% one-star), and the BBB rated BlueChew A+ with 127 complaints filed in the last 3 years.
- Side effects follow the drug inside. On the Viagra label, headache (16%), flushing (10%) and indigestion (7%) were the most common in flexible-dose trials.
- BlueChew takes no returns on prescription products. Its refund page says to cancel at least 24 hours before renewal; its terms say 48 hours.
BlueChew reviews are mostly positive: on Oct 27, 2026, Trustpilot showed a TrustScore of 4.1 out of 5 from 3,264 reviews, and the Better Business Bureau rated it A+. BlueChew is also a real, licensed telehealth service, but every tablet it sells is compounded and not FDA-approved, and in 2025 the FDA told it that some of its marketing was false or misleading.
That mix is the fair answer to “is BlueChew legit?” Below is what we could confirm on BlueChew’s own pages, the FDA’s site, LegitScript, Trustpilot and the BBB, with the date we read each one, and what the FDA labels say about side effects.
Who runs BlueChew
BlueChew is the trading name of Dermacare LLC, 345 N. Canal Street, Chicago. Its terms (last updated Sept 23, 2026) describe it as a technology platform, not a medical practice, and say it doesn’t employ the clinicians. Prescribing is done by five provider-owned groups: the Delaware, Kansas, Florida and New Jersey Telehealth Medical Groups, P.A., and California Telehealth Medical Group, P.C.
You fill in an online medical profile, a licensed provider reviews it, usually within 24 hours, and if a prescription is appropriate the tablets ship within 24 hours. BlueChew names three partner pharmacies that compound and dispense its products:
- Meds Health, LLC in Elmhurst, Illinois
- National Treatment Delivery and Care LLC in Deerfield Beach, Florida
- Curexa Pharmacy in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey
Its FAQ says you can ask for the prescription to go to another compounding pharmacy instead. BlueChew serves every US state except North Dakota and ships to Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. You must be 18 or older.
Licensing and LegitScript
Online prescribing is legal when a clinician licensed in your state reviews your health information and a licensed pharmacy fills the prescription, which is how BlueChew describes its service. Its site footer shows a LegitScript certification seal, served by LegitScript and linked to LegitScript’s status page for bluechew.com; we checked it on Oct 27, 2026. LegitScript’s own lookup sits behind a captcha, so confirm the current status at legitscript.com before you rely on it. LegitScript certification checks licensing and pharmacy practices. It isn’t a rating of how well a medicine works.
What the FDA told BlueChew
On Sept 9, 2025, the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research sent a warning letter to Dermacare LLC dba BlueChew after reviewing bluechew.com in August 2025. It quoted four claims, including “SIL: Same active as Viagra” and “TAD: Same active as Cialis”, and said they implied BlueChew’s compounded products were the same as FDA-approved drugs when they are not. The FDA said that made the products misbranded, told BlueChew to stop using the language and asked for a written reply within 15 working days.
A warning letter is the FDA’s formal notice that it believes the law was broken. It isn’t a fine, a recall or a finding about a batch of medicine, and the FDA sent similar letters to other telehealth companies the same day, including two to Hims & Hers. As of Oct 27, 2026, BlueChew’s pages describe SIL as “Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra)” and carry a notice that compounded products are not the same as, nor generic versions of, any FDA-approved medication.
What BlueChew sells and what it costs
BlueChew’s product pages show four tablets, all of which dissolve in the mouth; it now calls them sublingual tablets. Prices below are from BlueChew’s own pages. The single-drug prices are as of October 2026; GOLD was read on Oct 27, 2026.
| Product | What’s in it | Starting price |
|---|---|---|
| SIL | Sildenafil (its page shows 45 mg) | $3.53 a tablet |
| TAD | Tadalafil (its page shows 9 mg) | $4.47 a tablet |
| VAR | Vardenafil (its page shows 8 mg) | $4.34 a tablet |
| GOLD | Sildenafil, tadalafil, apomorphine and oxytocin | $7.30 a tablet |
Plans start at $20 a month, and BlueChew says the price depends on the drug, the strength and how many tablets you get each month. There is no separate membership: each billing cycle covers the medication, shipping and tax. In October 2026 BlueChew was also running a “try 2 months of Gold, get 1 free” offer.
For comparison, FDA-approved generic sildenafil tablets cost $1.60 to $6.25 a dose at the online providers we checked in October 2026, so BlueChew’s SIL price sits inside that range. Among providers we list, MyDrHank sells generic sildenafil from $25 a month and generic tadalafil from $30 a month, as of October 2026, though it doesn’t state the strength or tablet count. What you pay extra for, if anything, is the dissolving form. The strengths aren’t directly comparable either: a tablet absorbed under the tongue isn’t absorbed like one you swallow, and the Viagra label puts the swallowed tablet’s bioavailability at about 41%.
Does BlueChew work?
The drugs in SIL, TAD and VAR are PDE5 inhibitors with long trial records as FDA-approved tablets. In four 12- to 24-week trials of 1,797 men, 63%, 74% and 82% of men taking 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg of Viagra reported improved erections, against 24% on placebo, according to the Viagra label. The Cialis label says tadalafil improved erections for up to 36 hours after a dose.
BlueChew’s compounded tablets weren’t part of those trials, and the FDA hasn’t reviewed them for safety, effectiveness or quality. So whether a given drug and strength works for you is something you find out with the prescriber. BlueChew’s FAQ says that if one drug doesn’t work, you can switch to another from the My Plan tab, or email its medical team for help choosing.
GOLD is a different kind of product. It combines two PDE5 inhibitors with apomorphine and oxytocin, and both the Viagra and Cialis labels say combining them with other PDE5 inhibitors or ED treatments hasn’t been studied. Our guide to BlueChew GOLD covers what is in it and what the evidence shows.
BlueChew side effects
Side effects come from the drug inside, so the FDA labels are the best guide. These are the adverse reactions reported more often than on placebo in the approved tablets’ trials:
| Side effect | Sildenafil (Viagra, flexible dose) | Tadalafil (Cialis 20 mg, as needed) |
|---|---|---|
| Headache | 16% | 15% |
| Indigestion | 7% | 10% |
| Flushing | 10% | 3% |
| Stuffy nose | 4% | 3% |
| Back pain | 2% | 6% |
| Muscle aches | not listed | 3% |
Sildenafil can also tint vision blue or make it blurry for a few hours (3% in the label’s flexible-dose trials). The serious warnings are the same as for the approved tablets, and BlueChew’s own safety information repeats them:
- Never take it with a nitrate, in any form, or with riociguat: together they can drop blood pressure dangerously.
- Tell the prescriber about alpha-blockers, other blood pressure medicines and heart problems.
- Get emergency care for an erection lasting more than 4 hours.
- Stop and get help for sudden loss of vision or hearing.
GOLD adds apomorphine. On the Apokyn label, an apomorphine injection approved for Parkinson’s disease, the main warnings are nausea and vomiting, fainting and low blood pressure, and the drug must not be used with ondansetron or similar anti-nausea medicines, because of reports of profound low blood pressure and loss of consciousness.
What BlueChew reviews say
We read the two review sites that rank highest for BlueChew on Oct 27, 2026.
- Trustpilot: TrustScore 4.1 out of 5 from 3,264 reviews; 66% five-star, 9% four-star, 4% three-star, 4% two-star and 17% one-star. The profile is claimed, BlueChew invites customers to review, and Trustpilot noted that it hadn’t replied to negative reviews. Trustpilot says it doesn’t fact-check reviews.
- BBB: A+ rating, accredited since Jan 21, 2022, with 127 complaints filed in the last 3 years and 49 customer reviews.
The reviews on bluechew.com/reviews are testimonials BlueChew chooses to show, so they tell you less than the two sites above. A high rating mostly reflects ordering and delivery; it can’t tell you whether a compounded tablet contains exactly what its label says, which is the part the FDA doesn’t check.
Cancelling and refunds
BlueChew doesn’t accept returns of prescription products. Plans renew automatically at the then-current standard price, with at least 3 days’ notice of a price change. To stop the next charge, use Put On Hold in your account or email support@bluechew.com. Its refund page says to do that at least 24 hours before your renewal date, but its terms say 48 hours, so allow two days.
The terms also require disputes to go to binding individual arbitration in Cook County, Illinois, and waive class actions, with an exception for small-claims cases under $10,000.
Other options
If you’d rather take an FDA-approved tablet, generic sildenafil and tadalafil are sold online for a few dollars a dose. Our best online ED providers list compares providers on price per dose, care and terms, and the sildenafil and daily tadalafil lists rank them for one drug. For how the drugs compare, see sildenafil vs tadalafil and the best ED pills. If you’re weighing two brands, read BlueChew vs Hims or is Rugiet legit.
The bottom line
BlueChew is a legitimate telehealth business: licensed providers prescribe, it names its pharmacies and medical groups, it shows a LegitScript seal, and its review scores are good. What it sells is compounded, not FDA-approved, and the FDA warned it in 2025 for implying otherwise. If a dissolving tablet suits you, it is a real option; if you want the version the trials tested, an FDA-approved generic tablet costs about the same.
